Erect, aromatic annual, with dark red leaves. A purple leaved variety of the sweet basil.

Culinary Uses:
Leaves used in very much the same way as sweet basil. Adds amazing colour contrast to salads, rice and pasta dishes. Added when pickling vegetables to give rosy colour.

Other:
Makes an attractive bedding plant.
