Company History
|
Humber VHB was formed in 2001 when Humber Growers Ltd, a leading cucumber grower in East Yorkshire acquired Van Heyningen Brothers Ltd, a leading tomato grower in West Sussex. Both businesses date back to the 1960s when they started growing salad crops.
Company History – Humber Growers Ltd
Established in East Yorkshire in 1961 to market products for a small group of local growers. Humber Growers first realised the potential of specialisation in protected crops and began long term relationships with leading supermarkets.
Making the change to a private limited company, Humber Growers Ltd was created in the 1990's. Continually seeking to increase efficiency through investing in science and technology, new rapid cooling and cold store facilities were introduced, together with expansion in the packing operations, and glasshouses with improved heating and carbon dioxide systems.
